DATELINE 1993
Each year one of the original charter member organizations
of The Overseas Press Club is asked to be responsible for
designing and producing the annual magazine and awards
program for the membership. In 1993, it was time for Reuters
to produce the magazine for the first time. Being one of
the few members of the Washington Bureau staff with any
previous publication design experience, I was asked to
spend a month in New York designing and producing
"DATELINE 1993: The World In Turmoil". The editorial
content was contributed by major news organizations and
the winners of the annual journalism contest.

The entire magazine was done on one Macintosh
computer as a single QuarkXPress file and output
to a service bureau for page negatives, which were
delivered to a New Jersey printer one week
before the annual dinner.
