Welcoming Committee
White Supremacists, racists, and members of the Forsyth County
Defense League, heckle participants in the Brotherhood
march by showering them with shouts of hate, obscene hand
gestures, spit, and thrown bottles. Organized by Atlanta city
councilman Hosea Williams in an attempt to help blacks settle in
Forsyth County, the peaceful marchers outnumbered the hatred.
